THE BIG DAY (Part2)

Ok... so the rest of the delivery story:
At 7pm the midwife came in and broke my water and MAN the contractions came!!! INTENSE is the only way to describe them! I had emphatically told the nurse I did not want and epidural, but when the intense contractions came on, I cried out "I WANT AN EPIDURAL!!!" And yes, I was that dramatic! However, as soon as the contraction was over I was like, "nevermind, I can do this". I'm sure she wanted to strangle me. When the contractions got too intense we decided to go the Nubane route. It basically is a pain killer so it takes the edge off the contractions. It also knocks a person out between contractions! This is me on Nubane...

The Nubane lasted for about an hour and then the intense contractions were back. They were worse than ever!!! I did the whole "I WANT AN EPIDURAL" thing again but this time meant business! After Brandon read me all the disclosure stuff and helped me sign, the anesthesiologist came in to start prepping. I had given up the natural route.
Brandon left the room because he was sure he would get sick if he saw the needle. The nurse sat me up and had me spin so I was sitting on the edge of the bed. The contractions were so intense I had my head buried in the nurse. They were trying to get me numb so they could do the epidural but my contractions were coming faster and harder and all I could think or say was "I'm going to poop!!!" All I could feel was the intense urge to poo! The nurse kept lecturing me not to grunt through the contractions, but I couldn't help it. They finally got the catheter in my back and spun me back around to lay down. That's when the nurse finally checked me. She looked at me with shock and said "the baby's here!!!"
Everyone started scrambling. Thankfully the doctor was available and everyone kicked into gear. I pushed through 2 contractions and the top of Claire's head was visible. The doctor laughed at the amount of hair and the midwife said it had to be a boy with that hair. I then thought it would be a good idea to go around the room and ask all the nurse staff, my mom, Brandon and the doctor what sex they thought the baby would be. They all said boy. I then pushed through 3 more contractions and she was here. The doctor lifted her up and let Brandon announce her gender. Brandon announced, "ITS A GIRL!!!" and Claire McKinley Canterbury was officially here. 10:02pm, 3 hours after they broke my water and started my labor!
GOD IS GOOD!!!
