Adventures of the Baby Registry

We went this weekend to start our baby registry and boy were we out of our expertise! We got the product scanner to start our registry and went to the front section of the store to start our selection. There before us was an entire aisle of just bottles!!! Talk about overwhelmed, we almost turned around and walked out. Instead of backing down from the challenge we decided to go for the stuff we new a little (VERY little) about. After an exhausting scour of the store we finally turned back in the gun and went for dinner. Over dinner we realized we had only registered for about 1/16 of what was on the "suggested registry" list. EECK! Having all the appropriate gear for a baby is daunting! I don't think we realized how much stuff was out there!!! Surely there wasn't this many options when we were little. Isn't a bottle a bottle and a pacifier a pacifier? Who knew you'd have to pick from over 30 varieties of bottles and 50 different strollers?!?!

22 Week Check-Up

We had our monthly Dr appt and second ultrasound yesterday. We had the ultrasound first and the technician couldn't believe how wiggly little Canterbury was. Baby Canterbury wouldn't lay still for 2 seconds. She let us watch the screen as she moved the wand around the baby taking pictures of its little arms and legs. We saw its tiny heart thumping away and its little face turned towards us. I teared up seeing our baby on the screen. Its such a wonderful feeling to know I have a tiny life growing inside me.
Baby Canterbury is about 1lb 4oz which the Dr informed us is "one big baby" for how far along we are. YIKES! He said had we not had an early ultrasound he would be tempted to change our due date based on the baby's size. Our little peanut's heart rate was 140 beats/minute. A fairly calm baby, I hope. We'll cross our fingers baby has Brandon's laid back personality.

Now Thats Just Funny...

Move'n and Groove'n

Baby Canterbury has been super active this week. Last week I would only feel a bump or jab every few days, but now... ALL the time! I think baby moves the most after I eat. Its such an odd feeling to have something tossing and turning inside your belly... and it not be gas. HAHA! Brandon has felt the baby move a lot and sometimes its actually visible if you stare long enough. An shop girl in Jamaica told me that if the baby moves a lot then its a girl. So far the signs are headed that direction.

We did have our first boy comment this past week. We were in line to board the ship and a woman behind us asked if we were having a boy. I told her we didn't know what we were having, it was going to be a surprise. She was adamant that she had never been wrong and we were definitely having a boy.
The next boy comment came today. I was in the owner's office talking with his assistant, Colleen, and she took a good look at me and said she was changing her baby diagnoses to a boy.

This guessing game is just so much fun!

The First Belly Touch

About midweek on vacation (November 12th) I had my first belly touch experience. After tendering in from the island, Brandon, Natalie, Tom and I were filing up the steps with everyone else when a random lady says, "Ahhh, how far are you?" and reaches out for my belly. With both her hands on my stomach I reply with, "only 5 months. We're half way there!" Natalie was so excited to witness the first random stranger belly touch.
Some girls are weirded out by strangers touching their belly, but I don't mind at all. I'm just thinking, "this person must be really strange to want to touch a random person's stomach". Family and friends can touch without being odd, but strangers are just weird.

Baby Bump at 22 Weeks

Baby really sprouted this week - all of a sudden I didn't fit into anything. I guess dresses will be my saving grace.

22 Weeks is a Spaghetti Squash

Baby Canterbury has stretched to the size of a spaghetti squash and weighs almost a pound. (Length: nearly 11 inches.)

So my question is... if the baby only weighs 1lb how do I account for the 12lbs I've gained thus far?! Eeck!

Replaced

I've been replaced! When I came out of the bathroom this morning I found Maci curled up with her head on my pillow sleeping peacefully next to Brandon. Aren't they cute?!

19 Weeks is a Banana

Baby Canterbury has grown as big as a banana. YIKES!!!
(Length: about 6 1/2 inches from head to bottom, and 10 inches from head to heel.)

Baby Bump at 20 Weeks

Is it a girl or boy? I think I'm filling out everywhere so I'm told that's a girl trait. I can't believe how chubby my face looks in pictures! YIKES! Hopefully its due to the lack of make-up I've been sporting.

Baby's First....

Shoes...
Brandon wears Vans so I couldn't resist getting a pair of Van style shoes for Baby Canterbury. Brandon of course loved them! They will look cute on either a boy or girl.

Bib...
I saw this bib in a little boutique in Grandview and just fell in love with it. Since I can't see spending $18 on a baby bib, I found it online for a steal. Baby has an adorable bib to wear for a lunch out.

Some Nursery Updates

We've been keeping busy this past week. We finished painting the wall blocks and got them hung above the crib. We have to buy some more brown satin ribbon to finish the look though.

Brandon put together the co-sleeper to make sure all the parts were there. It'll be such a nice thing to have the baby sleeping right beside our bed for the first couple months (not to mention, easier on me).

Mom called from Pottery Barn to tell us a Larkin changing table came in, so we jumped on it. We now have an all matching set... the crib, changing table, and rocker.
